hello everyone, i am william diamynd. you may have noticed some changes around here and those are my doing. today marks my first day as CEO/Founder of wasteof.money, as jeffalo has resigned. here are my current features added:
moderation is now decentralized: if you dont like someone you can shadow ban them
literature has been added: i have added 50 shades of gray because this place needed more literature
i have make all timestamps appear in seconds as the previous timestamp was inaccurate
dislikes & discrims: i have added dislikes and discriminators to wasteof.money, to give back what youtube and discord took from us
usernames are now in all caps and start with u/ because a lot of people like reddit and also people complain about no caps on here a lot: so here you go
special features: some specific users now have special badges and profile features

for those wondering, this is a new tool we’re testing as a mod team. in the past, when arguments develop into flamewars, we’ve just deleted posts, but this causes context to be lost, and is just overall a bit invasive.
with locking a post, we can now indicate our disapproval of the argument and put our foots down to stop it, without being so invasive/deleting so much.
still, the goal of wasteof isn’t a “free speech platform” and never will be. this is meant to be a safe space with civil discussion, and as a mod team we will take action where necessary to maintain it.
told my math tutor that i was admitted to the university of waterloo. she asked if i’ve seen the ID card meme.

hii we purged the wasteof discord because it was getting toxic and mostly offtopic. if you were kicked it has nothing to do with you, and it was entirely impersonal (based on join dates). we’ll be opening up the discord in the future, but for now it’s closed while we readjust everything (trust me you aren’t missing out on much)
alright @everyone. here’s a reminder. this is a discord server to discuss wasteof.money, coding, technology, and adjacent topics. it’s just a place for us to hang out. it is not a place for overwhelming US politics or to have weird arguments.
recently, many people have joined here who aren’t particularly interested in wasteof and or its development. that’s fine, but i want to keep this a safe place for wasteof. so we’re now shooing you all away. there’s plenty of space on discord for everything else.
honestly, i haven’t been particularly interested in engaging much in here because it gets quite toxic. moreover, we’re not equipped or interested in moderating the level of toxicity.
we’re about to do a slightly drastic change which will probably kill the discord for a little bit, but will hopefully shake things up a little.
