To understand what 8647 means, here’s the following:

86 = To kill

47 = The 47th president, Donald Trump

8647 = To kill the 47th president, Donald Trump

This is something James Comey, the former FBI director, has posted on his Instagram, and complimented on that same post. If anyone writes or says 8647 on any post or place whatsoever, you are threatening to murder Trump, which is actually a federal crime in the United States. It doesn’t matter whether you absolutely hate Trump or not, you should never threaten to kill the president or any political figure, or even anybody else for that matter.

Comey did try to backtrack it by saying that he didn’t know it was political, however, it doesn’t matter for 2 reasons:

  1. He did know better as he learned code words/numbers during his time as an FBI director, so he knows almost every code and meaning, including the term 8647. This is a lie and a sad attempt to get out of potential legal charges being pressed against him.

  2. Even if James Comey was honest in that following post (which he wasn’t), it doesn’t matter. Even if he didn’t mean to threaten the president, he still did anyways, which means this now needs to be taken seriously in order to protect the president’s safety and ensure that this doesn’t go without consequences.

the primary definition of 86 is not “to kill,” it originates as a term more similar to “kick out” or “get rid of.” it can mean to kill (most commonly in slang) as this post asserts but i have reasonable doubt Comey meant it this way (although i do believe he should have checked beforehand)

also wdym Comey said it wasn’t political? he stated it wasn’t meant to be violent is that what you meant?

and if he really wanted Trump dead i’m sure he wouldnt be making cryptic instagram posts about it. this whole situation is ridiculous it’s like if the us secretary of human health and safety posted a photo of himself swimming in known sewage contaminated water or if the president of the us wanted to accept a luxury jet from a foreign country as a ‘gift’ and if he also was telling a private company what to do with their business

okay but your original post maintains a very hard line stance that Comey meant “Kill Donald Trump” by the term 8647 which is misleading

i agree he should have known better, but this reaction is ridiculous, especially considering the stories of people receiving threats after being targeted directly by Trump’s rhetoric
