Got out of the theater 12 minutes ago, it's better than the games. Matpat said the thing, and there were more than just jump scares!
TL:DR: 6.5/10 it's good base but I want balance
Played The Finals for like 3 hours today. My biggest takeaway? Destruction is amazing. The balance sucks. The lightest build dies in like 3 seconds and time to kill is weird and strategy is weird. Heavy can't move well. Sometimes spawns are fully opposite of the point of contention so you have to run a long time.
This needs a line break because respawn timers are too much. I wait for 20 seconds to revive and then we get squad wiped so I sit for another 20. The focus on team play punishes players who get separated too much. I either want The Finals to slow down and become strategic or speed up and be more arcady.
The concept is good but the game modes are repetitive. I think sandbox would be nice with multiplayer and TDM or something would be nice too. Or PvE could be a cool concept. Or payload. But something without vaults and cash out stations.
Open beta rating: 6.5/10
Final thoughts: the destruction I have been waiting for for a long time, but the gameplay itself feels unbalanced and unfair, like there is a meta I don't understand.
And I swear that there were some hackers cause no human can perform this well 😔
