a lot of assholery is absolutely passed off as ragebaiting whenever it doesn’t land (schrödinger’s asshole) but there is definitely some perfectly benign and legitimately hilarious ragebait out there, e.g. Gavin Newsom’s current antics, that bit with the guy repeatedly insisting that sharks are perfectly smooth, most Tumblr posts, etc

yeah ik thats what ragebait was originally, and some of it still is, but it feels more like its becoming a shield to hide behind when you say something just to upset someone. the gavin newsom antics are funny bit i feel its moreso a satire of trump/republicans that is clearly going over the heads of the people its mocking. but i do get there is benign ragebait out there
