the way people say that Dvorak moving the ZXCV keys is a dealbreaker is so wild to me because like, are undo, cut, copy, and paste more ingrained than all the rest of the letters and keyboard shortcuts??

For me they’re nearly the only ingrained ones

Also how hasn’t the proximity between ZXCV and the control key been brought up yet

i usually use right control for ZXCV since they can all be hit with the right hand on dvorak

can’t you just remap the shortcuts so that they’re in the same spots too?

you can most of the time, but most people wouldn’t want to bother

also when it comes to remapping things, there are two usual approaches:

  1. just have copy be whereever C is on the layout, have paste be whereever V is, etc.

  2. have all keyboard shortcuts follow whatever it is on QWERTY

this makes very little sense to me because for instance, ctrl+C is copy because copy starts with C, but then ctrl+Z, ctrl+X, and ctrl+V were used because, on QWERTY, those are near C, and on some programs, ctrl+Y is redo because Y and Z are nearby in the alphabet, so there you have 3 ways a keyboard shortcut could have came about, not all of which can always be respected. if i was to decide what to remap undo, cut, and paste to for Dvorak (and i wasn’t already used to the keys that on QWERTY look like slash, B, I, and comma fulfilling those roles), i would probably go with something like LRCG for ZXCV.
