It’s still BS that we were told to never look at Wikipedia for reliable information.

People don’t understand that citations exist and are on Wikipedia. At least my teachers didn’t seem to understand this
For all its faults, Wikipedia is an incredible feat in the modern internet. No ads, not owned by a massive corporation or billionaire, and is completely free to access and reuse.
I think it also says a lot that Wikipedia is one of the world’s most visited sites in an era where so much of the modern internet is centralised to a few key sites owned by some of the wealthiest people to ever live. Wikipedia is at least trying to provide the world with a reliable repository of the worlds’ information through constant refinement of information by volunteers who actually need to cite the claims they make.
Like, it’s not perfect, but I think we’re better off having Wikipedia than not.
I mean I see where they’re coming from, but who’s actively vandalizing the Wright Brothers article??? 😭
UHHHH but my teacher once went on a 16 hour meme conspiracy rabbit hole and found an article that said Abraham Lincoln was still alive.
Probably they looked at [[Wikipedia:General disclaimer]] once and decided that it’s no good
