i think it’s sad that alchemical symbols were left behind with alchemy
i mean the fact that they’re called alchemical helps but like
they’re so much cooler than other ways of expressing chemicals, but they aren’t standardized and since they haven’t been updated in a while there are a bunch of outdated things like “alcohol” which we now know includes ethanol, isopropanol etc.
BUT NOOO we can only have IUPAC names (designed around english) and chemical formulas (designed around the latin alphabet) instead of something that would objectively (i know i’m not using it “right”) be cooler and more linguistically neutral
