my school is trying to make us promote generative AI for an assignment 👎
I’ve been working on this project for a few months now, it’s definitely not complete yet, but it’s been a while and I’ve been itching to show people.
While it isn’t done yet, it is at a stage where it is definitely playable, and I would love to get some feedback and any suggestions you have. Don’t be afraid to tell me you think it sucks, because I want to know that before I spend even more time on this!

Reactive is a game about operating a sci-fi nuclear reactor aboard a spaceship hauling cargo for some faceless corporation. You are a brain in a box autonomous operator, who’s purpose is to operate the ship’s systems, primarily its reactor (which is the only thing that is available for now). A few moments of distraction could have catastrophic consequences. You’ll also need to communicate with the maintenance team to have things repaired when they break.
The game is planned to be a rougelike-ish game somewhat similar to FTL, except you’re not the captain. This includes buying upgrades, combat, and an end destination. I’m also planning on adding achievements for getting endings, doing feats, and finding secrets. All of this stuff (in this paragraph) is just a plan and has no release date right now.
I submitted a bug report for SDL (engine used by like half of all steam games) and the original guy responsible for the whole project responded

i started learning SDL3 under the impression that it was already a commonly used library
turns out that was SDL2, but we ball
