this goes for like so much, not everyone was racist in the past, not everyone beat their wives, not every woman was going insane bc they were a housewife, not every woman even was a housewife, most women prior to the late nineteen forties went to college before getting married, and they certainly were allowed to attend college in the NINETEEN SIXTIES, idk why some people think otherwise cries, but at the same time not everything obviously was sunshine and rainbows!!!!!!! there was more discrimination (not that its been at all eradicated now ofc), more acceptance to discriminating, more acceptance of domestic abuse and racism and sexism, far less help for people with mental disorders, just in general its not good to either romanticize the past and think it was better overall than today or to completely say across the board everything was bad and today is amazing, that also lowkey ignores the struggles that people who arent white or male or whatever are still going thru today , esp to improve law and equality and all πππ
the fact people think everyone on earth was wildly and unrecognizably different from modern day even like fifty years ago makes me so mad. and it gets worse the farther you go back like . people wanted to be clean and smell good even if it was 1850 and they found ways within what was available to them, just because that was different or less than what we have access to today doesnt mean it was bad or they were like covered in dirt or smth all the timeβ¦ people in two hundred years r probs gonna think we were disgusting too cause we dont have access to what they will ..πππ
