still sometimes think about how the browser company just abandoned arc, a browser a lot of folks enjoyed and found refreshing for how it approached browsing the web just to basically make a boring generic chromium browser focused on ai that is essentially being made obsolete by google adding gemini into chrome itself lmao
i think they realized google would copy them no matter what (their only moat was good tasteful UX, which anyone could copy). so they did this AI pivot and got a $610M exit. not bad.
never thought about it from that angle tbf, didn't hear about the exit. still a shame since arc for windows is still so unfinished while it had promise to be a nice alternative to chrome, albeit zen is sorta picking up the mantle a bit now when it came to arcs ideas and general concept
zen is getting close. and i think chrome’s vertical tabs are decent. dunno whats up in edge land but it can’t be too bad either
edge imo is just too bloated, when the chromium one first released i was surprised at how simple and clean it was, but then microsoft did its usual and crammed in a ton of crap no one wants or needs lol
