A little history lesson: the American people declared independence for a number of reasons. One of their problems was "depriving [them] in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury”. Basically not letting them have jury trials.
Fast forward to 2026, the UK government is considering scrapping jury trials. Reality really is funnier than fiction.
