I just had an idea. A lot of people support urban mobility with things like bicycles and scooters. That’s a great idea, but often the weather is too bad to ride a bike, and many people just physically can’t. And it is often hard to carry things on those vehicles.
So I propose we make a new vehicle, a little bigger than a bike and fully enclosed with air conditioning. Powered by electricity or even some kind of fuel. Maybe even with enough space for friends to ride with you, to save money or just for fun. Build new transit corridors that are open to these, funded buy taxes from buying these vehicles and from buying electricity or fuel to power them. They can lock so you don’t need a bike lock or anything like that. Each location you arrive at could have an area for storing them.
You can arrive precisely at your location without having to walk, unlike most public transit. It is still open to the public, but it is more private. And you don’t have to worry about weather or your strength. I’m currently tendering funding to launch a pilot project for this. We’re planning to use these new devices to control the flow of people traveling on our vehicles. They will have three colored lights (red, yellow, and green) to signal travelers when to stop and go. We’re gonna use LLMs to control the light colors.
