i keep hearing people talk ab how much they looove androids’? “new” “circle to search” “ai” feature and i just dont get it. what can this that google lens couldnt do half a decade ago? can any circle to search enthusiast eggsplain
previously people had to take a screenshot, crop it and then put it in google lens, and that also only returned either translations or related images. now circle to search makes this “process” as easy as drawing a circle, plus now there is AI in the backend to analyze so its more versatile than google lens.
one use case i found recently: was watching a video and a guy was wearing a watch, i circled it and got to know the model and the price, but the watch launched in the 90s so the pricing was for a 2nd hand model, as circle to search shows you an AI overview, it explained the pricing, common 2nd hand pricing and the initial launch pricing. for a small use case like this it clearly did its job well and saved me a few minutes of googling all this.
