Hot take: AI overview on Google is a net positive. It’s useful most of the time, especially for complex questions. Most people have a dislike for it because they remember when it sucked, but it’s honestly a good feature now.
it's more annoying for me personally, for example you google the name of a website and the overview pops up with a description that takes up a good chunk of the screen
in my experience (and mind you i do not mean to invalidate yours) most people who don't like AI don't like it on ideological grounds or environmental terms, not because they have a bias towards only remembering when it sucked (insert that one xkcd about apple maps)
this being said, i do mostly agree with the google AI overview being a good feature
Yeah fair, I was talking about AI overview specifically though, which I think most people don’t like because it can get stuff wrong. I don’t think people hate AI overview for the same reasons as hating AI art.
I use duck duck go because they have a similar thing
Unfortunately I started relying on the Google one too much 😂

I disagree because it takes advertising revenue and website visits from the original creators of the information
