btw, i sorta put this tierlist together to get a feel of what games i like exactly - if you have any game recommendations that you think i’d enjoy based on this activity, please do let me know. almost always looking for fun new things to play
ranking (almost) all the games i own on steam
games are arranged from best to worst (but rankings are a little loose so don’t take them too seriously). with a few small exceptions, this tierlist does not include demos, playtests, mods, and games i haven’t played long enough to form an opinion on or can’t remember much about
there’s no F tier here because these are all curated games i had to buy with my own money, and i wouldn’t be buying absolute crap unless i didn’t know they were crap beforehand and/or said crap is funny enough to justify the purchase
oh also potentially hot takes abound, you have been warned
ranking explanations:
P - genuinely perfect game with no issues that i can think of (besides undertale historically having a terrible community but the game itself isn’t really at fault there), i definitely recommend adding these games to your library
S - fantastic games, might have one or two extremely minor issues holding them back from P but i can overlook those issues
MINDWAVE - game isn't out yet so technically can’t go on this list, but if it did count i’d put it near the top of A. ok fine maybe i backed this on kickstarter so i'm biased
A - solid game! maybe not a criterion collection game of the year masterpiece, but not everything needs to be. i find myself coming back to these on a regular basis and i’d recommend them
WEBFISHING - probably would have put this one somewhere in A at time of release, but game's in a sorry state now (sole dev left the internet, game itself has numerous security issues, etc) so it’s kind of hard to rank this one
B - i like these games! they may not be my first choice, and they may have some issues, but i still appreciate these for what they are and would still gladly recommend them
C - i may see the vision in these games and/or appreciate them for what they are artistically, and there’s absolutely people out there who like these games, but i am not a huge fan of these games to the extent that i can recommend them. sorry if you like any of these :(
Commander Keen Complete Pack - fantastic games, but the steam version is meh. unless you want to support the devs by buying the games on steam, just play the games on an emulator or something, because that’s basically what you’re getting here
Half-Life: Source - despite the numerous issues, the bugs and jank in this port is actually kind of funny to experience, not to mention this port led to plenty of community content that otherwise wouldn’t have existed. i don’t recommend going out of your way to play or buy half-life source, much less would i recommend playing it as your introduction to the half-life franchise, but if you got it through a bundle or something it’s fun to mess around with the assets in gmod or play around with mods that require it
