I actually find this comparison interesting, because, despite your conclusion, I think the sunset and sky pictures look better on the action camera. I think the contrast in them makes them look better subjectively, although I will admit I value style highly. I also think the hue of the African Lilies looks better on the action camera, but it isn't as accurate. The Samsung is definitely way better for close-ups.
I do agree with you on the sunset photos, there’s less glare from the sun on the lens, however, in the second photo with no defined foreground, the image processing really struggles with the bright sun and the darker objects around it due to lackluster dynamic range, which the S5 does slightly better. Your take on the African Lilies is surprising to me though, the S5 has more true to life colours, while the action camera is more washed out. What makes you think the action camera looks better?
I like the blue more in the action camera picture. I know that the Samsung has more accurate colors but those colors are far more boring
