just spent 2 hours fixing my arch system because I messed up a pacmerge for mkinitpcio.conf, which led to not generating my initramfs images. It still would not boot, so I had to fix my innitrd after a kernel update by updating the fstab. It’s always user error 🙄

What's the issue?

I ran a full system update to see what the issue was because I lowkey forgot, and at the end it said

Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

My computer’s CPU is an “intel CORE i7 vPro”, so the fact that nvidea packages are trying to be installed at all makes me think I was probably half asleep when I was setting up the system, which probably Isn’t Very Good.

Honestly I don’t really have any qualms about reïnstalling, and I just haven’t gotten around to it. (bruh moment)

This was in the arch news a little while ago, solution found here: https://archlinux.org/news/linux-firmware-2025061312fe085f-5-upgrade-requires-manual-intervention/

All good, the arch team recommend joining the news email list so you get an email every time something needs to be manually fixed (a few times a year iirc)
