I actually have a lot of reasons to remember the 21st of September other than the song.
a year ago today I was at this retreat with my youth group and I remember waking up and just seeing one of my friends staring at me. then we had an actually acceptable breakfast and then we did a buncha stuff. all day I was like “why am I so happy???” then that afternoon one of my friends got this actually giant splinter in her foot that was like an inch long and so I ran down this gravel path barefoot to get somebody to help and anyway so eventually there were a bunch of adults trying to help her get the splinter out and she was like crying. we were supposed to be doing something else I think and me and my friend missed all that because she was trying to get the dang splinter out. eventually the youth pastor guy had to literally make me go to dinner and I ate maybe a few bites and then came back. then eventually she finally did get the splinter out and we were so happy. later that night we had a bonfire and people were roasting marshmallows and there was lightning that we could see, and then a couple of my friends started putting marshmallow on other people. then it literally started pouring down rain and it was pitch black and I was trying to find the cabin but I couldn’t and I went in the wrong one lol. I finally got to the right cabin a bit later and then when i was trying to fall asleep I didn’t want to fall asleep because I didn’t want it to end.
actually, I won’t bore you with my craziness. i’ll just say, um, I had a really great day a year ago.
