have you seen any particular software you like?? because i have reccomendations
mastodon/misskey/pleroma or something of that design, i’m mostly trying to something similar to what i do on wasteof
for mastodon (technically its chuckya which is just a mastodon fork. its good) i recommended wetdry.word and for akkoma (again, a pleroma fork. its actually more popular that pleroma lmao) i’d recommend labyrinth.zone (the “theming” on those goes about as far as the)
off the top of my head i cant think of any unthemed enough *key instances other than my own (possum.city)
my old account was just on a very gay instance, but i think neutral-themed instances exist commonly
I’m on Wafrn, it’s supposed to be a tumblr replacement but is pretty varied in terms of its userbase and the ui is pretty good. You’ll probably end up mostly following people from other instances instead, I’d say it’s a pretty good entry point for fedi. Then again I am still fairly new to fedi and this is just The One I Picked.
Oh yeah and it also has built in bluesky integration without using bridgy
considering it, but the tumblr UI style is a little confusing for me
i wouldn’t recommend it - last i heard the moderator(s?) blocked a bunch of other servers for no reason
every single comment here just justifies why fedi is complicated for normal people to get with
