Some people don’t want PWAs, and some browsers, such as Firefox and Firefox-forks don’t support PWAs. Also, it being an electron app doesn’t make it bad, if you’ve ever used Discord, Spotify, WhatsApp, Slack or Visual Studio Code, then you’ve used an electron app before. Electron apps also provide superior privacy, as if you only had cookies on the wasteof client, then no other site would be able to access the cookies for wasteof, making you significantly more protected from cookie grabbers that take your token to log into your account. Finally, if I wanted to, I could theoretically add some local features to the client such as being able to read posts even if your connection went out (you just wouldn’t be able to post or see new posts). I could also add custom features to the app, such as a button that sends a post at a later time, or making the client have a custom colour theme since I can add custom javascript to the app. Also, if you’re a student and your school internet/filtering software blocked the wasteof.money domain via a chrome extension, it wouldn’t apply to the desktop client, enabling you to use wasteof during school (Priorities, I know) It also was just something fun to make. If you want to, there’s absolutely nothing stopping you from using the web browser version of the website, but if you want a customised macOS client, then it’s nice to have the option for that.
