Ok, this is just anti-Israelism and pro-Iranian by the Onion. Insinuating that the strikes were unnecessary is completely false. If Israel did not strike Iran would likely get nuclear weapons at some point. Any country that let this happen would be mind-bogglingly irresponsible.

For one thing, you already know Iran would be sharing these nukes with their militia proxies. This would put the most powerful weapons in the world in the hands of unstable actors in even more unstable countries.

It would also enable and entrench the Iranian regime. Which is actually ranked half as free as the Israeli-occupied West Bank and nearly a seventh as free as Israel itself by NGO Freedom House.

Say what you want about Israel’s past actions or tactics, but this needed to happen. The world cannot allow Iran to get nuclear weapons.

Yes, they started work on the bomb in 2005 (20 years ago). BUT they didn’t just keep working on it at a linear rate. Israel is right now pursuing a policy of destroying all of Iran’s stuff, especially their nuclear stuff, so that long term they can’t pose a threat. While Israel is not the “good guy”, it is a case of the lesser evil here.

ignoring the fact that iran aren’t any closer to nukes than netanyahu has claimed over the past 30 years, here’s a thought experiment: why should israel have nukes and iran not? especially considering israel is, without any shadow of a doubt, the aggressor in this situation, this only gives more pretense to iran having nukes as a deterrent. (obviously i don’t think any countries should have nukes, especially israel, but you can see their angle here)

also, there was already a deal for iran to not develop nukes in 2012, that trump scrapped in 2018. and they were on the verge of a new deal before netanyahu decided to bomb the whole place.. honestly seems like he just wanted an excuse to bomb it…
