I do not understand why anyone would preorder something like the switch 2. Is the idea that you trust Nintendo to be good enough that you don’t need to see reviews before buying? but why not just wait till it’s out and then buy it? is it cheaper? it’s not like there’s any holidays right now that justify needing it right now right? it’s not a need now item unless your livelihood revolves around Nintendo products right? also there’s likely issues with first batches of a new product right? so why not wait a month? is it just manufactured FOMO? what’s with this consumption culture? hello??

I simply do not understand why anyone would buy the switch 2, it's much too expensive.

my manufactured fomo was concerns with tariffs but I also did really want the mariokart + I’ve just wanted a new system for a while

I had money set aside for it and then my logic was I’d try for a preorder just in case some silly trade shenanigans happened later this summer, otherwise I’d wait until everything settled

As for holidays I don’t get summer breaks anymore but if I was still in school this would be a pretty awesome time to have a new console (paradoxically though, if I were in school I wouldn’t be able to afford it 🤔)

unironically now wondering whether tariffs were a 4D chess move to increase short term profits like this

I think some things are absolutely being designed that way, but probably mostly with stocks

My best guess is FOMO, but i’m sure the reason varies person to person

10 year old jeffalo being smarter than the vast majority of american adult consumers is not unexpected but still wild
