the modern right-wing see's “wokeness” (which much of the time is essentially things like race, gender, social justice issues) as the enemy and source of what is wrong with society, they believe the department of education teaches “woke” ideology and hence must be dismantled. It's a similar reason why many on the right see Putin's Russia as something to aspire too, they are Russia as “unwoke”, Putin has regularly criticised trans rights, LGBTQ+ issues, etc. so the right in many cases are happy to ignore that he's a dictator because they see him as a crusader against “wokeness”.
It’s fine, because we still have the Departwomen of Education.
