I recently did a refresh of the brand of Super 8 Motels, which I hadn’t heard of until I saw a rebrand submitted as an entry to Brand Battle 6 (a competition I’m judging on Scratch currently). I liked their approach, which is quite different to the current Super 8 brand and my rebranding here. When I saw their project, they showed the companies logo history, which included Super 8’s original 1982 logo (which is no longer in use) and I got the idea to use it as a base to make a fresh retro look for Super 8. You might have seen quite a handful of brands taking past logos and modernising them for today (look at Burger King, Pepsi, Co-op, etc.), so I took inspiration from there for this project.
