Now install Safari π
installed firefox on a chromebook today
No. The only reason I use it is just itβs what Iβm used to (and extensions. I only use safari on mobile, pc Iβll use literally anything else)
Literally nobody wants Safari, not even most Mac users lol
Safari is good in terms of privacy, but it definitely isn't the best. It suffers from bad compatibility issues, and having very wacky memory usage. Firefox is definitely better, but at least Safari is better than Chrome.
Still don't get why people hate Chrome so much - hate Google if you wish, but Chromium is the best browser engine. Chrome/Chromium's compatibility is miles ahead of Safari's and Firefox.
a big reason chrome/chromium has such good compatibility is because it's the market leader. in my experience firefox/gecko is just as capable as chrome/chromium at everything, especially if you change your user agent. google has also in the past developed thier own websites to work worse on firefox intentionally to make it seem firefox has bad compatibility. it's like saying linux has bad compatibility because it doesn't support all the same windows apps out of the box.
Also I feel like even if safari was better than anything you'd still find a way to hate on it
If Apple decided to decouple Safari from iOS and macOS updates, I might consider it a serious attempt at a browser. However, until then I hold that it's just a bad default that's literal years behind the competition.
Safari seems ok on mobile, but the macOS version is pretty bad. I would rather use a Microsoft Edge, Chrome, or Firefox on a laptop/desktop. I use Chrome on Android because it's the default browser that came with my phone and it works well, I use Firefox on desktop because it works better than Chromium browsers on Linux.
firefox is really good, I would use it if I could download it
