explaining masto/fedi because much of wasteof.money seem to not know what it is (pls boost)
mastodon is server software that implements a protocol called activitypub. this means that if you have an account on any other server that implements activitypub, such as a misskey server, you can also see posts from them. that’s why fedi usernames come in 2 parts, @[email protected] my username and the instance i signed up on. this is good because mastodon can’t “go down” like traditional social media, only one instance can. the server is completely open source, too, unlike wasteof.money, unfortunately.
posts are also called toots, which makes it objectively better than wasteof.money.
